Data Controller
KickAbout is operated by Pull Kitt Enterprises LLC, Chicago, IL. Pull Kitt Enterprises LLC is the data controller for all personal information collected through the app.
Information We Collect
When you create a KickAbout account we collect your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and date of birth. When you create or join a game we collect the location data associated with that game. We do not collect your precise device location without your permission. We collect your date of birth at signup to verify our minimum age requirement of 18 years.
No Photo or Video Data
KickAbout does not collect, store, or display photos or videos of users. The app has no photo upload feature and we retain no images of any user, game, or venue. Users are prohibited from sharing photos or videos of other participants through the platform without explicit consent.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate the KickAbout platform — to create your account, match you with games in your area, enable in-app communication, and send notifications about games you are involved in. We do not sell your personal information to third parties under any circumstances.
Phone Number Privacy
Your phone number is stored privately and is never displayed publicly. It is masked to show only the last four digits even on your own profile. Phone numbers are used for friend search (other users may find you if they have your number) and for SMS verification when you change your number. We never share phone numbers with third parties.
Location Data
Game coordinates are only visible to the host and confirmed participants of that game. Cancelled and closed game locations are further restricted. We do not track your device location in the background — location is only used when you actively create or search for a game. Premium members may save their own favorite locations; saved locations are private to the account holder.
Player Skill Ratings
Hosts may submit a 1–5 skill rating for each confirmed player after a game is closed. These ratings are averaged across all of a player's rated games and appear on the public standings page and on profile screens. Individual ratings are private to the rater and the rated player; raters are not identified to the rated player.
Invite Codes
Game invite codes are gated behind participant membership — only the host and confirmed/waitlisted participants may retrieve a game's invite code, via a server-side function. Codes are never returned in public table reads.
Saved Locations (Premium Members)
KickAbout+ members may save up to 5 favorite hosting locations. This data is stored against your account and is visible only to you. It is used solely to pre-fill the host form and is not shared with other users.
Abuse Prevention Data
We log per-user counters in a `rate_limit_events` table to throttle abusive use of notification, SMS, and join-by-invite endpoints. This data is used exclusively for abuse prevention; it is never used to profile users or shared with advertisers.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account your personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. See our Data Retention Policy for details.
Arbitration and Dispute Resolution
Disputes arising out of or relating to our handling of your personal information, like all other disputes with KickAbout, are governed by the mandatory arbitration provision in our Terms and Conditions. By using the app you agree to resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration in Cook County, Illinois and to waive any right to a jury trial or class action. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first creating your account by emailing hello@joinkickabout.app.
Third Party Services
KickAbout uses Lovable Cloud for database and authentication, Stripe for payment processing, OneSignal for push notifications, and Twilio for critical SMS. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Minimum Age (18+)
KickAbout is available only to users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a user under 18 has created an account, please contact hello@joinkickabout.app and we will remove the account.
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have rights to know, delete, correct, limit, and opt out of sale/sharing. KickAbout does not sell or share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise rights contact hello@joinkickabout.app.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can delete your account from the Profile tab. For data export requests contact hello@joinkickabout.app and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
